What to expect during an hourly tutoring session

Our tutors will first conduct a comprehensive assessment and family meeting before providing any tutoring services. Student will have some fundamental weaknesses or exceptional strengths. To determine the specific nature of learning needs a proper assessment and evaluation is necessary. We assess reading and math skills according to New York State  Common Core Standards. Each session is one hour long. The amount of sessions will vary based on need.

Our tutors use proven and effective learning strategies that keep students engaged during each session while improving student achievement. Tutors make sure they get to know each student and build a solid relationship. Each session begins with a review of the schedule and taks, so the student knows what to expect. Instructional games, puzzles or activities are designed into each session that gives students time to move and play while still learning. Each session ends with a debrief and an assessment either formal or informal to keep track of student progress.

General Consultation: $25

30 Min Assessment/15 Min Discussion with family

Comprehensive Consultation: $200

Series of assessments/ 30 Min Discussion with family

Individual Session: $60

Group Session: $45 each for 2 students Total $90

$40 each for 3 students Total $120

Package Deal: $300 for 6 individual sessions deposit due $150

last payment due on 3rd session of $150

Tutoring can be provided either at a local library or the student’s home.

*We are currently accepting new clients in North Brooklyn and South Queens neighborhoods:  Bed-Stuy, Brownsville, Canarsie, Cypress Hills, East Flatbush, East New York, Howard Beach and Ozone Park. 

Hours will be after school by appointment between 5:00pm‐ 9:00pm.

Weekend appointments are available Saturday 9:00-6:00PM and Sunday 11:00-6:00pm.

Summer appointments are available Monday through Friday at Tutors availability. Appointments can either be made by phone or email at blackgirltutors@gmail.com.  There will be a broken appointment fee  50% of service cost for no‐shows and/or cancellations made with less then 24 hours of notice.
